Wildlife in Christchurch, NZ

Living in the Christchurch, New Zealand region can bring a number of benefits, but sometimes it is easy to take it for granted. People visiting the city know that there are many different great places to see. The wildlife in Christchurch is actually some of the best that you can find in the world. It isn’t just animals that one can find, but a lot of great plant life as well.

Wildlife Park in Christchurch

A great outing during the day is the Orana Wildlife park, which is situated in the Christchurch area not very far from the main city center. This park has a wide variety of different animals including plenty that are exotic to New Zealand, Australia and the entire Pacific rim area. These animals range from very large hunters and big cats all the way to the small insects and other critters.

For a lot of animal lovers this is a unique place to visit due to the wide variety of life that exists. It paints a beautiful portrait of all of the wildlife that are on the islands of New Zealand as well. For this group of islands, the climate is far ranging and has a lot to offer. A lot of people who are involved with biological research are interested in New Zealand for exactly this reason.

Gardens and Reserves

There are two places where the wildlife is interesting, but the plants are even more so. The beautiful Christchurch botanic gardens is a well known hotspot for a lot of tourists who want to enjoy some of the native flowers and plants from the area. Even though there are a lot of flowers that people might find familiar, the grounds keepers have done an excellent job with the maintenance of the flowers. More importantly, the design of the garden is worthy of a lot of respect and admiration.

As for the Willowbank wildlife reserve, there are a number of plants as well. This area is an entire untouched region where you can see plenty of natural foliage and animal life living within. While it might not always be easy to find the wildlife living on the reserve, you will most likely find it fairly easy to enjoy yourself.
